Report on the current and future emissions of the Brazilian tourism

Ghislain Dubois, Jean-Paul Ceron, 2015

Within the ECOPA project (Evolution of consumption patterns, economic convergence and carbon footprint of development. A comparison Brazil – France), TEC developed a case study on tourism, a fast growing activity and consumption area at world level and especially in emerging countries (WTTC 2009), and a growing contributor to global GHG emissions. Tourism relies on a complex set of consumption acts: accommodation, catering, transport, etc. which is another reason to select it as a case study. The research consisted in building statistics, modeling emissions and projecting them in long term scenarios, thus enabling us to analyze what are the trends in Brazil during the past decades and what could be the figures for the next decades.
